1. Poetry Performance (April): In National Poetry month, the librarians will be sharing their favorite poems, teaching poetry writing skills, and helping students write their own works. Students will perform their poetry to parents and guests.
2. No Summer Slump Party! (May): Parents and children can attend this exciting summer-themed party with book giveaways, STEM activities you can take home for the summer, and to meet librarians from your local public libraries to get you set up with library cards.
3. Back to School Book Bash (August): Your child can come to the extended hours at the library (with a parent) to check out their first books of the year and get to know the library.
4. Camp Out with a Story (September): Students and their parents can bring sleeping bags, snacks, and their PJs to this late-night story-telling event (S'mores provided by the librarian!).
5. Ghosts, Ghouls, and Spooks (October): 4th and 5th grade students are invited to attend this Halloween story night where they will read famous spooky stories, write their own creepy tales, and make fun crafts to take home.
6. Giving Thanks for Authors (November): Parents and students are invited to hear presentations from teachers about their favorite authors and books.
7. Holiday Book Drive (December): All children deserve a book to read over the holiday break. At this festive event, we will have games, food, and fun for the whole family. Cost of entrance: One new children's book per child attending. All books will be donated to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree organization to help children in need.
8. Grandparents Story Time (January): K-3 students and their grandparents are invited to come choose stories for their grandparents to read to them (aunties, uncles etc. are welcome, too!).
9. Book Fair Extended Hours (February): The Scholastic Book Fair will be on campus for one week in February, and the library will stay open late.
10. Spring into Action (March): 3rd - 5th grade students are invited to this after-school MakerSpace camp where they can build, explore, and experiment with STEM challenges.
